BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Caraga Region (DSWD-13) has provided aid to 4,110 households in the region through the distribution of Family Food Packs (FFPs), which commenced on Monday.
“The series of distributions was aimed at ensuring that the community efforts of the beneficiaries are appropriately compensated,” the DSWD-13 stated in a report Thursday.
The agency distributed a total of 6,956 FFPs to the designated beneficiaries across two provinces.
Of the total number of beneficiaries, 1,937 households were from three towns of Surigao del Sur, receiving 3,825 FFPs. Meanwhile, 2,173 households from three municipalities in Dinagat Islands were provided with 3,131 FFPs.
The beneficiaries were all engaged in various community projects through the DSWD’s LAWA at BINHI (Local Adaptation to Water Access and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished) program.
The Food for Work (FFW) program was implemented at the project sites of LAWA at BINHI to support beneficiaries working in their community gardens and water reservoirs, initiatives primarily aimed at enhancing food and water security. (PNA)
