Surigao Del Sur Provincial Police Office (SDSPPO) CONDUCTS 5-DAY TRAINING ON SEARCH AND RESCUE IN PREPARATION FOR 2025 NATIONAL AND LOCAL Election a comprehensive training program focused on Search and Rescue (SAR) operations. The training, held from March 10 to March 14, 2025, was aimed at preparing various government agencies for emergency response efforts during the upcoming 2025 National and Local Elections, as well as the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Parliamentary Elections (BARMM PE).
The initiative is a collaboration between the SDSPPO and key national agencies including the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).
This intensive training program aimed to strengthen the capabilities of law enforcement and disaster response teams in handling emergencies, particularly in complex election-related scenarios. It included practical exercises and simulation drills, focusing on SAR protocols during natural disasters, accidents, and election-related incidents, ensuring quick, efficient, and effective responses when needed.
“The safety and security of the public during the elections is our utmost priority. This training will ensure that all personnel involved in election-related operations have the skills and knowledge required for successful search and rescue missions. By working hand-in-hand, we will provide a swift and coordinated response to emergencies.”, PCOL DOMINGO said.
The SDSPPO is committed to fostering partnerships with national and local agencies to ensure that disaster preparedness and election security protocols are in place ahead. The training underscored the importance of coordinated efforts between sectors to safeguard communities and respond efficiently to any crisis.
The 2025 National and Local Elections and the BARMM PE are anticipated to be a significant event, and the training serves as a proactive measure to ensure that any unforeseen circumstances, including natural disasters or incidents during the elections, will be met with effective and swift responses.
