BUTUAN CITY – A weeklong series of anti-drug operations in the Caraga Region resulted in the seizure of over PHP1 million worth of suspected shabu and the arrest of 15 individuals, police reported Monday.
The Police Regional Office-13 (PRO-13) conducted 14 operations across different provinces in the region, leading to the confiscation of 173.21 grams of shabu and .45 grams of marijuana, according to information chief Maj. Jennifer Omiter. The seized drugs have an estimated street value of PHP1,177,882.
The largest drug haul occurred April 7 in Barangay Cubi-Cubi, Nasipit, Agusan del Norte, where a buy-bust led to the arrest of two individuals identified as alias Ronaldo, 54, a businessman; and alias Amor, 48. Authorities recovered 150 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of PHP1,020,000 from the suspects.
Ronaldo and his companion were considered high-value targets and have been under surveillance for several days prior to their arrest, Omiter said.
In a separate operation on the same day, the Butuan City Police Office apprehended two suspects and confiscated three grams of suspected shabu valued at PHP20,400.
Charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 have been filed against all arrested suspects. (PNA)
