Soldiers of the 65th Infantry Battalion (65IB) discovered several explosives, ammunition, and other military equipment in an operation they conducted on April 14, 2025 in the mountains of Barangay San Juan, Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur.
Among the victims were three improvised explosive devices (IEDs), two detonating cords, 14 blasting caps, three AK-47 magazines, six 7.62x39mm rounds, and 24 5.56mm rounds.
In addition to this, operatives also seized various medicines, subversive documents, two bandoliers, backpacks, and containers containing rice and gasoline.

Operation 65IB was carried out with the assistance of Agusan del Sur police, based on information received from residents regarding reported concealed war weapons claimed to be members of the New People’s Army (NPA).
Following the operation, the 4th Infantry Division (4ID) condemned the NPA’s continued use of IEDs, which is in violation of International Humanitarian Law.

According to 4ID, the use of weaponry such as IEDs proves the NPA’s disregard for the lives and rights of innocent civilians.
The presence and use of explosives in the neighborhood poses a great risk to the security and safety of the community.
