The members of 62nd Infantry “Unifier” Battalion under 302nd Infantry Brigade encountered four times with approximately 9 members of the New Peoples Army kun NPA who are still members of NPA Guerilla Front, Central Negros 1 (CN1) in the Committee Regional-Negros, Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor (KR-NCBS) in Barangay Humay-Humay, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.
The first incident of the encounter occurred at 6:07 am yesterday, May 1, 2025 during the Labor Day celebration resulting in the seizure of an M4 Assault Rifle and various war materials and personal items.
The soldiers immediately launched a hot pursuit operation and resulted in another encounter at 6:51 a.m. on the same day.
As the government intensified their operation a series of bullets erupted again at 12:10pm, resulting in the hitting of one of the NPA members and the seizure of an M16 Rifle and assorted war material and personal equipment, and The last encounter took place at 1:45 pm.
In the face of adversity, the valiant soldiers of the government will continue to show their unrelenting pledge to end the local communist armed conflict throughout the Visayas Region.
Successful back-to-back encounter shows that soldiers dedication and sacrifice just to achieve sustainable peace and security of the people.
This is why the Visayas Command lauded its troops who fought against communist groups.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Israel Galorio, the Information Officer of the Visayas Command, the government will remain determined in its mandate in maintaining order and security throughout the Visayas Region.
As they prepare for the forthcoming National and Local Elections they have committed their unflinching measures to provide security to the people that are safe and free they can vote of their choice to lead the country without threatening them.
Call on the remaining members of the NPA to step down and surrender their weapons and return to the law.
The government is ready to take care of them and give them livelihoods in accordance with the government’s program prepared for them.
